good morning. This is Monique Buchanan, the host of the welcome home with Monique show. And on this show, I talk all things real estate. Listen, I want to thank you for tuning in. Well, happy Saturday, Las Vegas. Its money began in the host of the Midwest. The welcome home with Monique show. As you guys can see, I think I've had just a couple of cups too many of Starbucks. But anyways, congratulations to all the kids and the grown folks that graduated. Yay. We're here at summer now. You know, I'm very embarrassing to my kids. Because yes, I am that mother that pools through the pickup line playing Jazzy Jeff. And Will Smith. Summer, summer summer time. I had all the teachers looking at me laugh and yes, I did that my nine year old was very, uh, devastated. But anyway, she'll be alright. Congratulations to all the people that graduated anyways, we've got a once again an amazing show. I've got a guest on today. Remember that? I told you. I've got awesome construction companies, you know, that work alongside me. And this one is a woman owned construction company. Hello, Miss Dawn Dawson. Well,
Unknown Speaker 1:36
good morning, Miss Monique. How are you today?
Unknown Speaker 1:38
I'm very good. And so she owns home site solutions. And listen, a lot of you guys out there thinking about selling your property. I know that sometimes we get held back are kind of, you know, get overwhelmed with a thought of Oh, my goodness, I've got so much to do in this house. I can't sell it like it is and I don't have the 1000s of dollars to go ahead and get those repairs fix what do I do I just sit on my hands and let the best sellers market pass me by No, you don't do that right now you can get top dollar for your property. And it looks like that may be changing soon, folks. So you definitely want to strike while the iron is hot. Miss Don is here to let us know, you know what that looks like when her and her team come over. And we'll assist you on those repairs. She even has something in place to where hey, we'll charge you X amount now. And we'll work with you. And then when you get your closing funds. Hey, you can pay us you know the rest at that point. Is that right, Don? Yes, ma'am. All right. You said you do it all the time right here to help. All right, we offer
Unknown Speaker 2:41
many solutions to homebuyers. It is overwhelming sometimes when you want to sell your home, and you have all these repairs piled up. And if you don't know what to do, and you sit around and wait, this market can pass you by Yes. So we have options established in place that for a small fee coming in, just start the repairs, get it on the market. And once it's sold, we'll handle it from there, then we're here to work with clients and we're here to help Las Vegas and make a positive contribution. She
Unknown Speaker 3:15
absolutely as you guys I am so blessed to have met Miss dawn. And she's got a you know, a story that just touched my heart. And you guys know I love to I tell all I'm very transparent and I think that's what I gravitated towards don do you mind sharing your story about how you ended up? You know, with the construction company and and what you did in the past with your, your, your husband?
Unknown Speaker 3:39
Uh, sure, I would love to my husband was a doctor, he worked locally. And during COVID He was one of the health care workers that would stay and help for as long as he could. Unfortunately, he contracted COVID as well. And he passed. So it was tough was really difficult. You know, prior to that upset in my life we had we had a great life. This is what we did. He went to work and he helped his patients and we flipped and I designed my education and design and business management. And that's what I did. I stayed home and we flipped homes and we had a really nice life and when he passed I didn't know what to do. I was sort of lost and and in that loss. There were many groups that I reached out to and there were a lot of homeowners and there were a lot of women who were in the same boat that I was that all sudden now their sports gone. Now they don't know how they they don't have anybody to call they don't have somebody to change the lightbulbs. They don't have somebody to fix a door handle and I thought what can I do? You know, I need to not only help myself, but what can I do to help these other homeowners, and these other women that are in the same position? I am, yeah, I was blessed to have a good background. And I was already flipping so knowledgeable and I was skilled.
Unknown Speaker 5:19
So you knew how to use the tools. And you could do these things that a lot of not just women, some men too, and just people don't know how to do within the household. I've got a girlfriend, she jokes all the time, she's single. And she said, Hey, any man coming to here, he better have a tool belt. need all the tools? Like, you know, I asked my husband, can you put those curtains up? I don't know how to use that drill, you know? And then I'll wait. We're not going to go down that path. But I'll wait for a while. Let's just say, All right, well, we'll teach at home. Thank you. No, but you just lead into what else you do. So obviously, home sight solutions. That's your construction company that came about, unfortunately, after the passing of your husband, who's who was on the front lines of COVID, did not turn tail and run but state to help his patients. So you know, we just want to honor him, you know, and all
Unknown Speaker 6:09
of the health care workers, all of them absolutely everyone who stayed around,
Unknown Speaker 6:13
yes, because they're the real heroes, they are the real heroes, you know, I was so blessed to on
Unknown Speaker 6:18
the other end of it, my family, my friends stood solid behind me, to my very best friends helped me start this company, they've partnered and went with me now. And they are our sole support together. And they're just as giving and just as generous and just as contributing as, as I am. And it makes a great partnership.
Unknown Speaker 6:46
That's awesome. I always say, you know, the true meaning of rich is to have you know, those kind of people in your life. That's what makes you rich. So, with that being said, you also started. So not only were you did you start your construction company, but you also started, well, what's going to be a nonprofit. And it all came about because of this and tell them a little bit about your nonprofit, which is actually called we're going to be citizens outreach program.
Unknown Speaker 7:14
We, during the backstory to this is, is during my flipping an established a really great relationship with the prodesk at Lowe's. And I sort of sat with them one day, and we were talking and I said, you know, prior to my husband's passing, I had a lot of time. And I could just volunteer to help and I can be there. If somebody called me I could run, but now situations change just like they had for a lot of us. And I said I want to still be able to help, but I'm not sure what to do. And they we just started bantering around and I said, You know what, I think I'm gonna have a bunch of ladies just come over or a bunch of people I know come over, and I'm going to teach them how to use power drill. I'm going to teach him how to use a little jigsaw, I'm going to show him how to find a stud in a wall. We're going to do some basic framing skills. So that these tasks that you have in your home don't seem so daunting, right? You might not have to call someone out, right you know, for a loose door hinge or you know, a loose lock or you know, whatever the case may be. And I have to tell you, Louis, jump right on the bandwagon. They were like, You know what, we can help you they support it, you can do this. You want to hold a class, you don't have to do it in your shop, we can put a roof over your head. We can support up to 30 people here and Lowe's was on it. So I have to really put it out for them. I mean they they went
Unknown Speaker 8:55
other places that did not I did mortar couldn't support maybe they didn't have the means but lo said we've we've got you yes and we're down doesn't help you and support you. And so now you have classes and where are they at? When are they they
Unknown Speaker 9:06
are every third Saturday at Lowe's currently where we're going to branch across the valley. But our home site currently is at store number 2844 7751 El Capitan at
Unknown Speaker 9:24
Lowe's. Okay, so every Capitan Lowe's, yes, every third Saturday, third Saturday now, you're also on next door. Yes. And that's where they can jump on next door and it's called Citizens outreach programs.
Unknown Speaker 9:36
702 ladies in power to oh,
Unknown Speaker 9:39
that's even cute.
Unknown Speaker 9:42
We have a lot of we've got a lot of ladies in that group. We do have some gentleman in that group too. And Robin Keith, my business partners show up and they help us too all the time. So we do have some fellows that are in the group and we do encourage I do try to encourage men to join our class. We have a husband and wife team. So it's open for any one. I just had a lot of reception from women. They were really interested in it. No, I told them, If you could run a blender, you can run a power drill. I'll teach safety. I'll teach you how to do it. You don't have to be afraid. I'll show you what to do. So it's been very successful so
Unknown Speaker 10:22
far. And now you've been up running all the cost out of your own pocket for right. Yeah. So if somebody wanted to donate to you into this cause
Unknown Speaker 10:31
awesome, amazing,
Unknown Speaker 10:32
right. So if you're interested if you're just tuning in, my name is Monique Buchanan. I am the realtor here in Las Vegas. And I also bring on other folks and support small business and nonprofits as well. Today, I've got a miss Dawn Dawson. She is a female construction site construction site, Construction Company, owner of home site solutions. And also, she has created citizens outreach program, aka 702, ladies and power tools on the next door if you so if you go on there, you can jump on and contact her that way. Or you can always call her at 70282478 by four, again, 702-824-7854. And if you have been thinking of selling your property, I can represent you as your realtor, get it sold for top dollar, Miss Don can come on site and get all those repairs taken care of. And you can take care of the bill at the time of close. In other words when you got the money does that sound good to you guys? Sounds good to me. Right on? Awesome. So right now we were just discussing the soon to be nonprofit. Now right now, it's not quite a nonprofit, you, you're doing a couple more things to get it to that point, but you've been holding these classes for how long now? We
Unknown Speaker 11:50
started in February of the Oh, I'm sorry, we started in November of last year. And our first class was November 11. And then our second class this year at Lowe's was January 15. And we've been rolling right along so I want to open that up and offer it to even any homeowner that might be interested in trying to do some repairs themselves maybe it might be simple. Come and join the class. Let's see what we can do. Yeah, make some good contacts
Unknown Speaker 12:25
there's no charge obviously they want to donate you're not turning away anyway. So if you want to sponsor this or get in on this you know once again her numbers 702-824-7854 guys because she's paying this out of her own pocket. So they all of us homeowners we'll have the knowledge of how to do these DIY projects ourselves and do them good because when I do it CNN doesn't come out to good Don because I don't know Yeah, I got it. So it's Lowe's on the the El Capitan Lowe's now that's in the Northwest Yes,
Unknown Speaker 13:00
Northwest is on the corner of Durango and farm, but you're going to start spreading out as well. Yes, we had an offer to go to store 1703 which is on the corner of Fort Apache and Tropicana Now
Unknown Speaker 13:12
if somebody has a space that they're like, wait you come you know I want to throw a deal do it yourself learn I don't mind using my space if they want to do that they could actually
Unknown Speaker 13:21
tell to you, we would welcome it great like to be able to move around the valley and and open the area so that it wouldn't be so far for somebody maybe who's on the southeast side right to travel all the way to the Northwest is just been our staple for right now. And although we did as I mentioned, we didn't get the opportunity to be hosted over on Fort Apache and Tropicana so that's the next store base. That's the next location to get have class there sometime at the end of July. Awesome. Okay, so let's keep me posted on that and we're gonna post all that information on our next door page as well. Okay,
Unknown Speaker 14:03
great. Great, great so once again, guys that 702 Ladies and power tools if you go on next door app, you'll find them there. Also, it's called Citizens outreach program. 702-824-7854 Miss Dawn Dawson Listen, she's not turning away any donations. Not getting that website coming soon. Right coming soon. Webs
Unknown Speaker 14:26
Go Daddy,
Unknown Speaker 14:27

She's well versed when it comes to that she also has a degree in design. So listen, if you need somebody that's going to lead you the right way. You definitely want to reach out to miss Don Dawson. We're here to support small business. I'm a small business I appreciate all my listeners support you too. Okay. And with that being said, we're gonna go ahead and welcome the next guest. You guys have had you know, you've heard her before because I bring her on quite often as much as I can. She's a busy lady because she's over there doing amazing things with angels of Las Vegas miss I knowledge getting a home. Hi, I'm Annie. Hi, Monique, thanks for having me. Of course and you know, Miss Dawn is on with us as well. And something came about you guys that while you know before we started recording again, I introduced these two and it turns out that Miss Don's brother is he has assisted with her angels of Las Vegas has actually assisted her brother, unfortunately, Don, your your brother was fighting cancer, is that correct?
Unknown Speaker 15:38
He was he was a union electrician, a local 357 His name was Eric recommened. And he had robbed Ohio sarcoma cancer. And he had a very long arduous battle ahead of him. There were times where his hope it escaped him. He at times didn't have food, he didn't have people to turn to. He lost everything. And our lady here, brought him food. She comforted him, they had meditation group together, he did nothing but talk about the sweet women who surrounded him with loving care. And who would know
Unknown Speaker 16:24
he was tiny. And as you and as you guys, this is not this is not planned. This is crazy. I just happen to have Miss dawn on today. And she's crying right now guys. I'm sorry, Don,
Unknown Speaker 16:36
I've been calling his phone and I've been trying to find out to check on him and I
Unknown Speaker 16:42
Yeah, well, he's here with us. Yes, he is. And he's brought you here with us today. Yeah, all of these loved ones that, you know, we have. We all have loved ones that have passed, you know, think that they don't guide you or they don't read you. They're the power behind us. You know, they're the love behind us, then that energy, that goodness and luck. And I'm sitting right here talking to you. So for me to you, from my brother, too. We love you. I'm glad you're here.
Unknown Speaker 17:09
Thank you, Don, you guys. So what happened is it walked into the studio and I introduced her to don don was just finishing up the show that you guys just heard. And as soon as Don heard angels of Las Vegas, you know, it's just a motion came over her because she knows this organization to be the real deal. So I do want to say thank you alongside John, because you are the real my heart. Thank you. And I didn't that's why I have her on Don, you know, I tell them all the time. She's the real deal. She's really out there assisting people that are at their lowest point in life. And she's there to hold them and hold them up and give them hope. So I knew you want to go ahead and talk about your organization a bit angels of Las Vegas. Yes. Thank
Unknown Speaker 17:52
you so much. Morning. Thank you, Don. It's such a pleasure meeting you so nice to meet you. Thank you. We've been around for about 11 years, we help children's and adult going through cancer life changing illnesses through educational workshop. Wigs food we just opened up our food pantry last January. So food pantry is open every Wednesday from 10am until 2pm. That is starting next week. We're going to change the hours from 4pm until 8pm Only 7836 West Sahara

Unknown Speaker 18:55
It's free so but they can donate nobody's turning away money here. Just I was teasing Dawn and saying that too. Because you know she's also has a soon to be nonprofit where she's helping people. Anybody really it's a lot of women have been joining but she's helping people to learn how to use the tools within their own home and do you do it yourself? So amazing. That awesome because we need it. But you also have an amazing golf tournament coming up?

Unknown Speaker 19:40
And you know what the great thing about it is if people out there they don't know how to go. They don't want to play golf tournament but we also opened up for the luncheon. Okay for anyone to come in at $75 to come in and have lunch with us and learn everything. They're going to meet our patients, our speaker so yeah, so
Unknown Speaker 19:58
they're supporting an amazing cause. So $75 That gets you to the luncheon but not the actual golfing, right?
Unknown Speaker 20:04
Actual golfing is per person is going to be 25 to 25. Is that and for some is $800.
Unknown Speaker 20:10
All right? Yeah. Yeah, it's an exam, right. So you know, one thing
Unknown Speaker 20:16
about our organization, all the funds, like we don't have grants. So we do those funds, those are events to be able to raise funds. So we have golf tournament, we have cash, a motorcycle show coming up in July. And we have water coming up. So this is how we raise fund to buy the wigs, the food and all you know all the stuff that we need it for the people
Unknown Speaker 20:36
that you're assisting, yes. So it's just you know, these are this is how you generate the income to purchase all the that's awesome. And what website What's your website, so in case they want to donate or maybe they do want to go on and buy a ticket for some for 800 bucks, and then a single person's 225 It's going to be at beers best. And it's July 24, right? Yes. What time July?

Unknown Speaker 24:31
fun
Unknown Speaker 24:32
oh fundraising reason so
Unknown Speaker 24:39
yeah, there you go. Yes, it's gonna be once a month than Wednesday is going to be so why are we having we wouldn't encourage the community to clean up you know, sometimes we go out we buy stuff that we don't need so we have overflow of pantry. So clean up your pantry brings, you know some donation of foods. Yeah,
Unknown Speaker 24:54
that's why I said I'm gonna start shopping online for my groceries because when I walk through the door The grocery store. I'm like just putting stuff in, because I'm hungry and I'm just throwing stuff in there and it's sitting in my pantry. So I'm going to clean my and I'm going to ask my listeners, please, let's all do this together, clean out your pantry. I'm sure some of you guys have pantries like mine. I've had like old peaches in there forever. Not that they're all but they've been in there for a while, but they're still good. But anyway, just clean it out and let it go to us because I need to start fresh. I don't know about you guys, but I do. And it's going to a great cause. And like Miss Dawn said, Hey, she's really out there doing it, you guys. She's bless my brother. It's a real deal. She's not just you know, with bags
Unknown Speaker 25:35
of food.
Unknown Speaker 25:36
There you go. Not once but multiple occasions married so that's true. So there you go guys living proof very ago for for this. Absolutely. And I see it for myself, but it's, you know, to have somebody come on and share their story. It just means a lot. They okay, this lady's really doing it, you know? So I'm her best friend so I can say it all day long. We know you might not believe me. But she's awesome. She now real quick, please just touch on what got you to start your nonprofit of angels off of Las Vegas. And well,
Unknown Speaker 26:08
I'm originally from Ethiopia. I left home when I was 14 years old. And I went through a lot of hard times. I from Ethiopia, I went to Israel from Israel, I come to America. I was literally homeless. I was sleeping in my car for two months. And the name come is because I call it angels because a lot of my friends and my people that I know they like what are you doing in Vegas? You know get out of there. He knows his sincerity you know? So I was like, You know what, there's so many people's been angels to me like you know, give me a job and you know getting me a room to rent and stuff. And so that's why in and I once I got a I got on my feet, one of my best friend from Israel join me and then soon as we have everything going, we got our paperwork and everything I bought my first house Life is beautiful. She had cancer. So we go into you know, she was good until she got she lost her hair. She was like, you know, my might have cancer, but cancer doesn't have me. So when she lost her hair when I had to go around and buy wigs, and I just buy it and leave, you know, because but when I take her, I say can I take her to the bathroom or somewhere private area, they're like No, take it or leave it. You got to try it on for other people. And she didn't want to do that. So we had to go week after week to find her that week that she likes. And that's what drives me before you know, we I bought I had a beauty supply store. That's what drives me to have my beauty supply store. I had a bright private we grew up with a cancer patients and the
Unknown Speaker 27:27
only one in the city and I had a private wig go girl. So amazing. That's what started it.
Unknown Speaker 27:33
That's what started it.
Unknown Speaker 27:34
Then she was given her own money like Don is giving her own money, you guys. Don is giving her own funds to support her nonprofit. It was giving her own fun. Yeah for many years as well out of her own pocket. So you know that's why I'm bringing bringing you ladies on because listen, if you want to donate and support, please you guys donate, you know charities that are out there actually doing it. Miss Dawn, you can reach her once again 702-824-7854 citizens outreach program and miss I Nolen work now, with angels of Las Vegas, you can jump on her website, Angels of l v.org.
